Boston Red Dog FAQs
What are the hours of operation at Red Dog?
- Red Dog is open from 7:00am to 7:00pm M-F, 9:00am to 6:00pm on Saturday, and 2:00pm to 5:00pm on Sunday. There is always a staff member at the facility 24/7 to care for the overnight guests.
Can I take a tour of the facility?
- Absolutely! We encourage customers to take a tour of Boston Red Dog to make sure their pet is staying at a high quality and clean facility.
What do I need to make a reservation?
- For any reservation made, Red Dog will need a credit card to be placed on file. After an online reservation is made the customer will be contacted by a Red Dog employee to help assist with the credit card information and any further questions.
- Red Dog also requires current vaccination documentation, which needs to be submitted to Red Dog at least Four days in advance for non-holiday stays and at least Ten days in advance for holiday stays. Our Vaccination document can be found on the Reservations page.
- We also require first time guests documents to be completed prior to your pets stay. This document can also be found on the Reservations page.
What vaccinations does my dog need?
- The following vaccinations are required prior to boarding your dog:
- Rabies – proof of vaccination required every year
- DHLPP – proof of vaccination required every year
- Bordatella – required once every six months
What vaccinations does my cat need?
- The following vaccinations are required prior to boarding your cat:
- Rabies – proof of vaccination required every year
- FCRVP – required once every year
How do I make a reservation?
- For any reservation made, Red Dog may need a credit card to be placed on file.

What do I bring with my pet when I check them in?
- We request that you bring a flat buckle collar for boarding and daycare. No adjustable collars, please! You may also bring toys and treats in a small plastic bag. All belongings should be marked with the guest’s last name and must be approved by Boston Red Dog staff. We provide guests with premium pet bedding.
- Please also bring any medication in the original container with your pet. A Boston Red Dog employee will give your pet their medication as requested. Please note that we charge $5 for administering pills and $8 for administering injectables.
What if I need to cancel my reservation?
- Boston Red Dog requests a 72 hour cancellation notice for lodging reservations made over holidays, including (but may not be limited to) Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, Easter, Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day. For all non-holiday periods during the year, we request a 24 hour cancellation notice. Cancellations made less than 72 hours in advance for holiday periods and 24 hours in advance for non-holiday periods will constitute a charge for ½ the rate of one night’s stay to the customer’s account.
What is included in the daily rate for my animal?
- 24 hour care
- 2 meals a day
- Water is changed with each feeding
- 3 business breaks
- Our suites provide television and music for the dog’s enjoyment.
Can I get my dog groomed even if it is not staying in the hotel?
- Any dog can be groomed whether or not they are staying at Red Dog for the night. Just call the front desk and make an appointment.
